On Saturday July 12, Robert, Doug and I accomplished something I never dreamed about, completing the 203 mile Seattle to Portland Ride in ONE DAY!
We were 3 of the 2,427 One-day riders out of the 9,500 riders that day.
Our 203 mile journey started in Seattle at 4:45am and arriving at Portland at 8:15pm. On the bike saddle we spent 12 hours averaging 16MPH. The non-saddle time we spent resting, eating and rehydrating; much required for the 85+ heat bright sunny day in the Pacific Northwest.
We are fortunate and grateful for the support of our family and friends. The bike support team Sheri, Katie, Mark and Sharon were generous with their time. patience and love. Their smiles and words of encouragement along the way made all the difference.
We are also grateful to our biking coach Lance, for which we thank and blame to getting us to do this.
And last but not least all the great family and friends that gave us all the love and support during the training to achieve crazy and challenging goal!
